Hi, people. Hope you’ve been well. Having a nice week? For people who haven’t seen Trinkets, SPOILER ALERT!!🚨🚨🚨 I’ll try not to drop any major spoilers, but if you’re the kind that hates any kind, please exit. Just know it’s a nice series and you should see it.
Anyways, I’ll just get right into it, per usual. Trinkets is a series about 3 girls: Tabitha, Moe and Elodie. It is also a journey of three high-schoolers who met and bonded over stealing addiction therapy. 3 girls on different strata of the social ladder in school came together and made what I would only define as magic, lol. Let’s meet my babies😉:
Elodie
Elodie is the new girl in school. She has a stealing addiction that developed when her mum died. It was kinda like a coping mechanism. When she comes to live with her dad and his new family(her parents were divorced), she is put into group therapy for her shoplifting problem. Elodie is socially awkward, introverted and very adorable. She’s also a lesbian. Her first relationship in Portland was with Sabine, a rock goddess and extremely extroverted, pansexual woman. It ended quickly because they basically wanted different things. She also loves music.
Moe
She’s unpredictable and has an explosive personality, with a small amount of anger issues. She’s the fun-loving kind, but only with people she’s affiliated to. She basically didn’t have any friends till she, Tabitha and Elodie became a squad. She finds love corny…welllllll, till she met Noah. He’s amazing and a total take-home-to-mama, lol. She ended up at the group therapy not because she steals, but because she was covering up for her brother. He was the one that actually stole, but had such a bad record that if he was caught, he’d have gone to prison. She’s the kind that fronts about being The Big, Bad Wolf, when she’s actually a teddy bear inside. Oh, and she is very intelligent. She’s straight(obviously).
Tabitha
Tabitha was like the Queen B of school cos she was dating the most popular guy( which is funny actually, cos sis was an ambivert leaning more on the introvert side). Her parents always pushed her to be good at everything, maybe a little too hard. Tab was ‘Miss Perfect’. People thought she had it all; she was rich, had a great boyfriend, pretty as hell, everyone wanted to be her friend. However, that’s the thing about perfection, it’s ALWAYS a facade. They say the worst kind of lonely is feeling alone in a room full of people. She was always surrounded, yet alone. Her boyfriend was a total douchebag, irritating guy(I hate Brady so freaking much🙄), her ‘bestfriend’ was an annoying girl that was actually gunning for Brady on the low. She was pressured to be good at home, pressured to be perfect in school. Sis was suffocated and didn’t know how to save herself. Shoplifting became a coping mechanism for her, just like Elodie. She’s straight too(obviously). She’s responsible, making her the mum-friend of the squad(the most level headed, the one that gives advice, the one that takes their drunk asses home, etc.). She likes parties sometimes, especially Halloween parties. She’s also very trusting. Sadly, a bit too much. Someone duped her cos of it. I like it though. It’s a pure quality I lowkey hope she doesn’t lose.
Trinkets is a web of love, addiction, serendipity, sexuality, perfectionism, depression, racism and a few other world issues spun into high school drama and teenage adventures(the usual Netflix ‘je ne sais quoi’). It was nice watching the girls grow, understand stuff, learn some things and unlearn some things. I especially love Tabitha’s growth. Her new found courage was making me smile like a fool😂. Finding yourself isn’t easy, I wish her the best of luck in s3. I also loooooove the karma Brady got for his wrong-doings. Beautiful to watch😁. I can’t wait for s3, lol.
